COVID-19 Testing

CRC Labs is a COVID-19 testing site located near Sacramento in Northern California. Our labs encourage Placer County residents to take proper precautions when it comes to COVID-19 testing in an effort to increase the local public health response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Why COVID Testing Matters

An Introduction to COVID-19 & Testing

The increase in COVID-19 testing is necessary in our attempt to eradicate and/or slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As a means of protecting yourself and your family members from getting sick, we offer reliable PCR test using nasal as specimen. In an effort to decrease community spread, we open our doors to anyone looking for fast and accurate results. Community spread is when people have been infected with the virus in a specific area, including some who are unsure of how or where they became infected. Each health department determines community spread differently based on local conditions, and given the rate of infection in California, we highly encourage testing as frequently as possible, especially when planning on visiting family members outside of your local community.

How Our COVID-19 Testing Works

Drive-Thru & Local Pick-Up

Sacramento COVID-19 testing is really simple. We offer drive-thru testing, local pick-up of at-home kits, and ship-to-home testing kits that are FDA authorized and sold at our facilities.

Our drive-thru services and local pick-up services are available at our Northern California location. For local pick-up of our at-home test kits, shipping is included in the price of the test kit.

Ship-to-Home Test Kit

For accurate and easy at home testing, we offer authorized tests that received an Emergency Use Authorization for at-home and in-office self-administration. With these accurate and easy at-home tests, we eliminate the need for the painful nasal swab, and all that is needed is a nasal sample.

The at-home COVID-19 nasal test only needs a nasal sample and is highly accurate with a sensitivity of 98% meaning that 98% of positive tests are correct, and a specificity of 99%, meaning that 99% of negative tests are accurate. There are 6 steps to our at-home COVID tests, broken down for you below:

Step 1
The first step of the at-home testing process is to complete the FDA-required pre-screening assessment and register for a lab order for each test kit voucher you purchased.
1
Step 2
Your test kits will be delivered the next business day; however, we recommend that you order your testing kit 1-2 weeks before you need to take your test to ensure you have it when needed. Shipping dates depend on the date of purchase and your location.
2
Step 3
If you ordered Video Observation services, please schedule your Test Observation Video Session click the button below.
3
Step 4
Each nasal collection tube has a unique device ID that is used to link your sample with your results. On the day you administer the test, please follow testing instructions and register each device ID using the link below. The day you register your device ID is listed as the collection date on your lab report.
4
Step 5
Follow directions and provide the nasal sample according to the directions included in your testing kit. After you complete this step, you can drop off your kit at the nearest UPS location near you. Please note that dropping off testing kits on a weekend may increase shipping and lab processing times, therefore delaying your results accordingly.
5
Step 6
If you purchased your kit with video observation, you will receive your results in 12-48 hours. Otherwise, results will be reported in 12-72 hours from the time the lab receives your kit. Your results will be available and shareable through the AZOVA app.

Understanding COVID-19

What to Do If You Test
Positive for COVID-19

Symptoms of coronavirus range from mild to very severe and symptoms can appear 2-14 days after exposure to COVID-19. Some ‘mild’ symptoms may include fever, dry cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain or weakness, headache, sore throat, back pain and loss of taste or smell. More severe symptoms of COVID-19 include severe shortness of breath, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, and blue lips or face.

If you test positive for COVID-19 at our Sacramento COVID-19 testing center, it is imperative that you follow state guidelines and stay home. Most people with COVID-19 experience mild symptoms and can recover at home without medical care. It is important that you do not leave your home, except to receive medical care if needed. This will help prevent those around you from contracting the highly contagious virus.

If you test positive for COVID-19 it is also very important to take care of yourself, get rest and stay hydrated. You can take over-the-counter medication to mitigate some of the symptoms such as acetaminophen. It is also important to stay in touch with your doctor and to call before you seek medical care. If you have trouble breathing or are experiencing any emergency symptoms, that is when you should opt for seeking care.

During the 14-day quarantine period, it is also important that you avoid public transportation and ensure that you test negative before doing so. If you live with family or friends, it is important to separate yourself from other people as much as possible by either staying confined to a specific room, or staying elsewhere until your results are negative. An infected person can spread COVID-19 starting 48 hours (or 2 days) before the person has any symptoms or tests positive. By letting your close contacts know they may have been exposed to COVID-19, you are helping to protect everyone.
